was retained by the Federal Emergency Management Agency – National Emergency Training Center (FEMANETC) to replace/upgrade the existing HVAC system in Building ‘S’. APEX subcontracted this work to Cenkner Engineering. Additional services included demolition, lighting, ceiling grid, temporary heat, and modifying existing fire alarm system. CEI was responsible for the system survey, engineering and design, preparing bid and construction documents, and construction management. The initial system survey involved inspection of the entire building and existing HVAC system. As part of the design process, CEI developed alternative designs that improved efficiency, lowered energy usage, reused and recycled existing material and equipment, and reduced cost. CEI prepared the final design and bid construction documents. CEI provided assistance during the bid phase and reviewed contractor quotes and RFIs. Estimated construction costs were less than $1 million. Construction was completed within budget and schedule.
